Troop Patches – 1970s, 1980s, 1990s
“The Troop patches became popular in the late 1980′s I guess as one of the Troop Sergeants in B Squadron had a contact at Cash’s and could get them produced at mates rates. They were never worn officially on tank suits or any uniform so were mostly souvenirs or sometimes used on brassards out bush where they couldn’t be seen by the powers that be. Some had them sewn on the lightweight flying suits we were issued at the time for knocking around after hours when away on exercise, though these were never a form of dress, so to speak.” – A Fieldhouse January, 2012

Part of HQ Squadron, this troop was the home of the Regiment’s Leopard dozer tanks (Csn 51) and Bridge Layers (Csn 52). Due to the type of equipment also referred to as ‘Regimental Rescue’ which is a play on the Thunderbirds title, International Rescue.
